Copadichromis geertsi can be found along the western coast near Masinje and along the coast of Mocambique near Thundu and Meponda. They are living there on an average depth of more then 25 meters, close to intermediate zones from rocks to sand. These examples were found in the neighbourhood of Gome Rock. In the lake the males of these species can grow to 17 cm, in the aquarium however they can grow a little taller because of a good feeding. The males then can grow to about 20 cm, females grow to about 15 cm. Copadichromis geertsi is mainly living in open water where it`s feeding itself with plankton. You can best keep this species with multiple females in a large tank with a lot of swimming space and hiding places. In the aquarium they are comfortable with any food. They take everything they get offered, like spirulina pellets, mysis, artemia, cyclops and shrimp-peas mix. |
